Clutha District Heritage Trail
Tokomairiro Trail Together these trails will give you a fascinating insight into Clutha's past including information about farming, the gold rush, coal mining, architecture, forestry, the significance of the districts' rivers and natural attractions. Several of the sites along the trails are registered under the Historic Places Act 1993. Category 1 historic places are sites of "special or outstanding historical or cultural significance or value". The trail can be started at any of the district's entry points shown on the map. Allow approximately two days to complete the full trail by car or four hours to complete each sub-trail. To experience what is truly unique about the Clutha District and its people, simply follow the distinctive teal and yellow Heritage Trail signs.
